The prospects in industrial hemp have been discussed by the Fijian and Canadian governments.
Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, the minister for economy, claims that the United nations advised them that Canada has some of the best industrial hemp seeds while promoting the economic benefits of the direct flight between Nadi and Vancouver in parliament.

According to Sayed-Khaiyum, they will work with the UN office on drugs and crime to set up the cultivation of these industrial hemp seeds at the fiji national university’s agriculture school, after which the seeds would be given to nearby farmers.
