Heidi Klum advocating for Germany’s legalization of Cannabis

Klum reportedly had a private meeting with Burkhard Blienert, the federal drug czar of Germany.
Heidi Klum, a supermodel and entrepreneur, reportedly met with a top drug official in Germany recently to express her support for the legalization of cannabis. Klum had a private meeting with Burkhard Blienert, the federal drug czar, according to the times.

Local media outlets claim that Blienert was astonished to hear Klum’s argument for legalization instead of the expected topic of drug usage with the project runway model.

Additionally, it was stated that Finn Hansel, 30, the founder and CEO of the cannabis business sanity group based in Berlin, attended the conference. Germany approved medicinal cannabis in 2017, and some of Canada’s largest licensed producers, including Canopy Growth, Aphria, Aurora, Cronos Group, and others, have supply agreements in place with the nation.

The nation imported approximately 10,000 kg of medical cannabis in 2020, breaking previous records.
However, the location of the nation’s cannabis suppliers is starting to shift. According to a research from Prohibition Partners, a global cannabis market intelligence company, domestic production is increasing, and Germany has struck import agreements with businesses operating out of nations with cheaper production costs. Cannabis will be legalized “soon, ” according to a tweet from German Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) earlier this month.

According to The Local. de, Lindner was making reference to a policy drafted by the Social Democrats (SDP), Greens, and Free Democrats (FDP) in their coalition agreement last November, which committed to legalize marijuana usage for recreational purposes.

Blienert is anticipated to be a key player in the development of the nation’s legalization implementation, including the establishment of the supply chain and regulatory frameworks.

Despite rumors that she is an investor in the industry, Klum has been silent on social media regarding the nation’s ambitions for legalization. Additionally, Klum and well-known cannabis enthusiast Snoop Dogg recently collaborated on a song video. The song, Chai Tea with Heidi, was written as a result of Klum’s request to perform the theme song for Germany’s Next Top Model.

When Klum mentioned to Jimmy Fallon that she wanted to add a second voice to the song, Snoop Dogg readily agreed to join her. Naturally, Snoop Dogg is no stranger to cannabis and has invested in businesses that produce it all around the world, including Germany.

Earlier this year, Cansativa, a Frankfurt-based cannabis distribution network, received a $15 million investment from the rap legend’s venture capital business, Casa Verde, according to Sifted.
